I finally made the jump then, my 17" Macbook pro with 4GB of ram, 2.4Ghz core duo is arriving tomorrow and I'll be returning my current Thinkpad Z61p. I guess ObjectGrid will be running on Macs soon...
I'll be using parallels as my virtualization solution, the 4gb of ram will help there. I just made a VM running Windows XP with MQSI Event Broker installed to do some ObjectGrid integration with Event Broker so that work will get prototyped on a mac of all places as one of the first projects.
Anyway, I'll post the experience here as it unfolds.
Billy, virtualbox is very good free virtualisation for Linux, Windows and OSX.

Really interested to see what happens here. I'll probably lobby for this myself if you like it.

VMWare has a beta of VMWare for Mac - I think it's called Fusion. I've been using it for a while, and it's quite nice.

I have also just ordered a MacBook Pro (although not as a work machine). I opted not to get the 4Gb RAM upgrade as it is £480 (or around $960).
I hope I have not made a bad decision.

Alasdair, the 2g sticks are only about US$130 from newegg, for example, so you could just throw away what came in the machine and go to 4gb for less than US$300.
I have one generation back (max 3gb), so went from 2 to 3 with one stick, huge difference in performance. Also longer battery life (disk doesn't spin as often).
