I had a pretty severely impacted wisdom tooth in my lower left jaw and the other 3 erupted normally. I had the upper two removed and the impacted one removed. Dr Psimos did the surgery in Rochester, MN. He took blood just before I went under. They used this to make a plasma treatment to lower the incidence of dry socket. It's two days later now and I'm happy to say it's all over with zero pain or discomfort. I'm amazed.
They used laughing gas on me first but that appears to have no impact on me. I felt nothing odd. They put me under a general for the removal. I woke up comfortable with no pain and left under my own power. I started on the vicodin at full dosage for the first 2 days. 2 x 5/500 tablets every 4 hours. I also took pencillin every 6 hours. The vicodin dosage was too large, you can't have more than 8 a day because the 5/500 means 500mg of Tylenol. You're only allowed 4 grams of Tylenol a day so I took 6 for those two days. I had the procedure on Friday at 9am and I took that vicodin dosage until Sat at 6pm. I then took one 5/500 at midnight and then stopped. The vicodin appeared to have no effect on me either, no high moments etc despite the high dosage, must be my Irish liver working. I'm still taking the penecillin, of course, and I took two advils for swelling on Sunday at 10am but am able to eat now if a little carefully.
It's 1pm on Sunday now and I basically feel the same as I did before the operation. I lucked out here I think as I don't have any nerve damage at all. I'm very happy with the work Dr Psimos did. So far, the outcome couldn't be better. I'll post again at the end of next week.
